For 30 years our mission has been to develop the future manufacturing workforce by inspiring, supporting, and preparing the next generation of manufacturing engineers and technologists.
To-date, individual donors, organizations and foundations have provided more than $29 million in financial support to fund youth programs, scholarships, and awards.

SME Education Foundation Celebrates 30 Years
The SME Education Foundation celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year thanks to the vision and dedication of generous corporate, foundation, and individual donors committed to the vitality of the manufacturing industry. Acknowledged as the number one influencer of manufacturing education, we have reason to celebrate and are charting our course for continued success.
Future plans are bright with concentrated effort being invested in manufacturing centers at high schools around the country. In addition to supporting talented students with scholarships, there is a focus on addressing the image of manufacturing and educating people about careers in advanced manufacturing.

Industry leader and philanthropist, Earl Walker, CEO Carr Lane Manufacturing, will lead events surrounding the Foundation’s 30th Anniversary. Mr. Walker has been a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) for 50 years.
