How do I know all of my submissions have been received properly?

After you have completed all application questions and submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation e-mail stating that your application has been Submitted. When the references you have listed submit their Reference Letters, you will receive another e-mail stating that your application is Complete.

| I completed a class project. Can I submit it for extra consideration? |
We're delighted that you successfully completed a project that you are very proud of. However, in an effort to keep scoring on a level playing field, we review only the required documents of your application.

I don't have Acrobat, how can I convert my documents to a PDF without it?
|
You have several options:
- Save your documents to a flash drive and take it to any office supply or copy center (i.e. FedExKinkos). Ask for assistance in opening each document and save them as .PDF files; then save the .PDF's to the flash drive. You can then take the .PDF documents from the flash drive and upload them to your application.
- Go to: http://createpdf.adobe.com/ and create a trial account which will allow you to convert up to five files on-line courtesy of Adobe 3.
- If you have the 2010 version of Microsoft Office, you can save the document as a PDF file by selecting Print, then Save As: PDF from the drop down menu.
- Ask around, many people have Adobe Acrobat and can convert your files. Check with your parent(s), professor, guidance counselor, and employer.

I have new information. Can I revise my application?
|
Yes, you may revise or update your application anytime before the application deadline. Log into your account to make revisions or upload a revised document. If you have already submitted all documents and received an email that your application is Complete please contact the SME-EF Education Foundation through the Message Center for instructions on how to access your application.

| My school won't give me an original Transcript. They only want to send it via mail. What should I do? |
Have your school call the Foundation staff at (313) 425-3300.

What will I need to submit my scholarship application?
|
You will need to submit the following items:
|
Student Statement - Maximum of 300 words explaining: • Why do you want to enter this field? • Educational objectives • Career objectives • How will this scholarship help you achieve these objectives?

Student Resume • High school applicants must include SAT or ACT scores, extracurricular activities in which you have currently or previously participated, the name of the college or university that you plan to attend in the fall semester. • Indicate internships, work and/or co-op experience, academic courses and projects related to your intended area of study, and SME or other professional memberships.

Transcript • Submit one copy of your transcript(s). The transcript MUST be an official transcript from your current school, and MUST clearly show the school name/location, your name and all classes/grades and overall GPA. • High school seniors and college freshman must include both high school transcripts and college transcripts.

Recommendation Letters
|
During the application process you will be asked to provide the names and e-mail addresses of two people to provide letters of recommendation. They will receive an automatic email providing them with instructions on how to provide and upload their recommendation letters. At least one of the letters must be from your current school faculty. Letters from friends and relatives are not permitted.

A few scholarships require an additional recommendation letter:
1. SME/Ford PAS scholarship - if you have participated in the FordPAS curriculum you will need a letter from a Ford/PAS instructor.
2. E. Wayne Kay Co-op Scholarship - if you have participated in a co-op program you will need a letter from your co-op employer.
3. SME-EF/FIRST Robotics Scholarship - if you have participated in the FIRST Robotics program you will need a letter from your FIRST faculty leader verifying participation.
If you think you will qualify for one of the above scholarships, you may want to request one of your recommendation letters from the above individuals to avoid being asked for additional letters.
