Joseph F. Novek Outstanding Student Leader Award

Available only to SME Student Chapter members, this award recognizes a graduating college senior student who best exemplifies the qualities that Mr. Novek valued in others and exemplified in himself: leadership, service, perseverance and entrepreneurship.  The award seeks to reward students for their academic and professional accomplishments as they enter the manufacturing workforce.

The recipient of the award will receive a $2,500 prize.

How to Apply

Complete the on-line SME Education Foundation Scholarship application by February 1st.  The student will be automatically notified if they are eligible for the Joseph F. Novek Outstanding Student Leader Award and requested to provide a Letter of Reference from the SME Student Chapter Faculty Advisor.

Faculty Advisor Instructions

The Letter of Recommendation from the SME Student Chapter Faculty Advisor should address:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Participation in the SME Student Chapter activities
  • Personal and professional accomplishments
  • Awards and honors
  • Work and/or volunteer experiences
  • Examples of cooperation, attitude, team spirit and professionalism

IMPORTANT

The student cannot be considered for the Joseph F. Novek Award unless the Letter of Recommendation is submitted by the SME Student Chapter Faculty Advisor by February 1st.
