For 30 years our mission has been to develop the future manufacturing workforce by inspiring, supporting, and preparing the next generation of manufacturing engineers or technologists.

To-date, individual donors, organizations and foundations have provided more than $29 million in financial support to fund youth programs, scholarships, and awards.

History
The mission of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Education Foundation is to:
- Inspire American youth to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) – essential skills needed to compete in the present and future manufacturing workforce – and provide equal educational opportunity to all.
- Support them by providing relevant and rigorous educational opportunities along with financial support to assist them in reaching their goals.
- Prepare them to be the next generation manufacturing workforce with project based curricula and activities that excite and engage them in cutting edge ways.
Over our twenty-nine year history we have:
- Invested over $4.6 million in youth programs, helping over 15,000 young people to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
- Granted over $4.3 million in scholarships to students studying manufacturing related programs.
- Invested $17.3 million in grants to thirty-five (35) colleges and universities to develop industry-driven curricula.
