East Lake High School, Tarpon Springs, FL East Lake High School’s deep connection with local businesses provides engineering students with a unique opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience. Their education model includes a built-in, 6-week summer internship as well as other work assignments throughout the school year.

This nationally recognized robotics program received an unexpected boost in 2005 when students were asked to participate in an 18-hour build on the local set for ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover, Home Edition.

Middleton High School, Tampa, FL Middleton opened in 2002 as a STEM High School serving the neighborhood and offering magnet programs in Biomedical-PLTW, Computer Game Design, Computer Systems Engineering, and Engineering-PLTW to all students in Hillsborough County, the 8th largest school district in the nation. In 2012, one of Middleton’s seven robotics teams won the FTC World Robotics Championship in St. Louis. In 2012 and 2013, Middleton earned the national title of Magnet School of Excellence by Magnet Schools of America. And in the summer of 2014, Middleton hosted its first MSSC Camp where students earned their MSSC-CPT Production Technician Certification. Industry partners serve on Middleton’s STEM Advisory Committee and the ACE Mentor Program is in its fourth year working with Middleton’s Engineering students.
