Grant Proposal Guidelines

What is the goal of the SME Education Foundation career development pathway?
The SME Education Foundation is committed to building the future manufacturing workforce in North America to compete in the 21st century global economy. Our strategy is to expose students to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in order to make an informed decision about pursuing a career in these disciplines. The Foundation's goal is to create a pathway that will offer students information and awareness beginning in elementary school through middle and high school leading into post secondary options. We place particular emphasis on involving women and minority students; two groups industry and the profession have recognized as largely untapped pools of talent.

What factors does the SME Education Foundation consider in its funding decisions?
In making granting decisions, the Foundation looks closely for the following detail:
-The proposal's relevance to the Foundation's areas of interest.
-The proposal's clarity in stating the expected project or program outcomes and the strategy for achieving them.
-The extent to which the strategy involves a collaborative approach to solving a problem or issue affecting the targeted groups or organizations.
-The proposal's connection to manufacturing.
