Since 1979, the SME Education Foundation has been one of the leading non-profits dedicated to the advancement of manufacturing education.

In September, the SME Education Foundation received a finalist award from Automation Alley for having the “Best Education Program of the Year.” The award honored the Foundation for its dedication to the advancement of grades K-16 manufacturing education – specifically for the Gateway Academy program and providing more then $29 million to youth programs, scholarships and awards.

Outright gifts and contributions
Cash, Check, Money Order
Cash gifts are accepted but should not be sent through the mail. Checks and money orders should be made payable to the "SME Education Foundation" and mailed to us with your name, address, contact information and gift designation.

Credit Card
Credit card gifts may be made online by using our secure, encrypted credit card transaction system. Select the Donate button and following the simple instructions. You may also make a credit card gift by calling the Foundation at 313.425.3300 or the SME Call Center at 313.425.4500.
Securities
Gifts of stock, securities, and bonds may be hand-delivered or mailed to the Foundation. Donors must assign shares to the "SME Education Foundation." The Foundation accepts DTC transfers through Merrill Lynch. Our office can provide additional transfer instructions. Property
The Foundation can accept some gifts of tangible, personal property. To determine if the Foundation can accept your property as a gift, please contact the Foundation Office at 313.425.3300.
Planned Giving Opportunities
A gift to the SME Education Foundation that is part of a thoughtful, comprehensive estate plan provides a way for you to complete a lifetime of giving or make a significant gift that was not possible at an earlier stage of life. Planned gifts also provide advantages such as a guaranteed lifetime income and tax benefits.
Bequest
A bequest is a transfer, by will, of property such as cash, securities (stock) or tangible property to the SME Education Foundation. The Foundation staff will work with your attorney or estate planner to ensure that your wishes are fulfilled and estate tax savings are maximized. Visit our Bequests page for more information.
Beneficiary
You can designate the Foundation as a beneficiary of the remainder of your IRA, Keogh plan, tax-sheltered annuity or qualified pension, profit-sharing plan or life insurance plan.
Gift Annuity
A gift in the form of an annuity provides you with a lifetime income payment from the Foundation, as well as tax advantages. A minimum gift of $10,000 is necessary to establish a gift annuity. For more information visit our Life Income Gifts page.
Charitable Remainer Trust (CRT), Charitable Lead Trust (CLT)
CRTs and CLTs provide substantial tax-savings opportunities. Our staff will work with you and your financial planner to ensure maximum benefits for your estate.
