The SME Education Foundation believes every student has a right to a comprehensive educational experience that prepares them for a career to become productive and fulfilled citizens. There are a myriad of factors that influence a child as they grow into adulthood, but education is universally recognized as a major factor that can open doors to future success in the workforce.

Since its inception in 1979, the SME Education Foundation has been blessed with a strong base of corporate, foundation, chapter, and individual supporters. The Foundation's mission — to develop the future workforce for manufacturing — is one that resonates with many people and organizations devoted to the manufacturing field.

The Foundation solicits funds annually to support the operation of our programs; we work with corporations and foundations to fund programs and projects that meet the needs of industry; and we have built a strong endowment to provide perpetual support for our grants and scholarship programs.
