SME Education Foundation

Since 1979, the SME Education Foundation has been one of the leading non-profits dedicated to the advancement of manufacturing education.

In September, the SME Education Foundation received a finalist award from Automation Alley for having the “Best Education Program of the Year.” The award honored the Foundation for its dedication to the advancement of grades K-16 manufacturing education – specifically for the Gateway Academy program and providing more then $29 million to youth programs, scholarships and awards.

S.T.E.P.S.

Held on college and university campuses throughout the country.
Led by experienced, dedicated faculty and is designed to meet the needs of local industry and the skill sets of the partnering academic institutions.
Provide middle school and high school students with a new awareness of the principles of manufacturing, science and technology in a hands-on learning experience.
Students participate in a variety of science and engineering concepts, including physics, pneumatics, aerodynamics, Web site design, chemistry, fabrication, assembly and electronics.
