Since 1979, the SME Education Foundation has been one of the leading non-profits dedicated to the advancement of manufacturing education.

In September, the SME Education Foundation received a finalist award from Automation Alley for having the “Best Education Program of the Year.” The award honored the Foundation for its dedication to the advancement of grades K-16 manufacturing education – specifically for the Gateway Academy program and providing more then $29 million to youth programs, scholarships and awards.

Gateway Camp: Designed for elementary students using the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) "A World in Motion" curriculum. This camp is intended to recruit young students into the math, science, and engineering curriculum in middle and high school. |

Gateway Academy: A week long day camp for 6th – 8th graders, Gateway Academy is a project based, hands-on curriculum designed by Project Lead The Way® (PLTW) to introduce middle school students to the fundamentals of science, technology, engineering and math in a fun and exciting environment. |

sMe Institute: The sMe Institute is an upper level high school summer program that is specialized and linked directly to industry. sMe Institutes draw from Project Lead The Way high school students and utilize strong industry involvement. |
