Available Scholarships for Graduating High School Seniors

    2013-2014 Clarence & Josephine Myers Undergraduate Scholarship

    Clarence J. Myers, a member of SME Chapter 37 - Indianapolis, believed so much in the success of the manufacturing engineering world that he knew he wanted to do something to benefit the next generation of engineers. After Clarence passed away in 1977, his wife Josephine  wanted to honor her late husband's wishes by establishing a memorial fund in his name in order to give back to the manufacturing community so beloved by her late husband Josephine established a fund in Clarence's name.

    Josephine passed away last August and with her passing she  left the Education Foundation with a gift of $25,000 to be placed into the memorial fund. The money in the fund will provide financial support to students specifically studying manufacturing at Indiana colleges and universities. 

    "I believe my uncle and aunt really thought positively of growth in the manufacturing field," stated Jeff Hughes, a nephew of The Myers.  "They wanted their legacy to be passed on to others by helping to further the education of those students in Indiana who need help in pursuing their individual future careers." 

    2013-2014 E. Wayne Kay Community College Scholarship

    The E. Wayne Kay Scholarship Fund, through the SME Education Foundation, will support undergraduate scholarships awarded annually to full-time students enrolled at an accredited community college, trade school, or other two-year degree-granting institution which offers programs in manufacturing or a closely related field in the United States or Canada.

    2013-2014 E. Wayne Kay High School Scholarship

    The E. Wayne Kay Scholarship Fund will support scholarships to high school graduating seniors who enroll in a manufacturing engineering or technology certificate or degree program in the United States or Canada.

    2013-2014 E. Wayne Kay Undergraduate Scholarship

    The E. Wayne Kay Scholarship Fund, through the SME Education Foundation, will support undergraduate scholarships awarded annually to full-time students enrolled in a degree program in manufacturing engineering, technology, or closely related field in the United States or Canada.

    2013-2014 Edward S. Roth Scholarship

    Edward S. Roth, through the SME Education Foundation, will support one annual scholarship. This scholarship will be granted to a graduating high school senior, a current full time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited four-year degree program in Manufacturing Engineering in the United States. All applicants must have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale and be a United States citizen. Preferences will be given to students demonstrating financial need, minority students and students participating in a Co-Op program.

    2013-2014 Gene Haas Foundation Scholarship

    The Gene Haas Foundation was established in 1999 by Gene Haas, Founder and President of Haas Automation, Inc. the largest machine tool manufacturer in the United States. One of the primary goals of the Gene Haas Foundation is to provide financial assistance for students interested in manufacturing-based careers.

    Gene Haas recognizes that the future of manufacturing in the United States is directly dependent on the availability of skilled workers. That future hinges on recruiting more students and developing quality training programs across the country. This scholarship illustrates their commitment to strengthening America's Future workforce.

    2013-2014 Kenneth C. Novak Manufacturing Scholarship

    Ken Novak has devoted countless hours to the SME Education Foundation as a volunteer member of the Scholarship review committee. The work of this committee has influenced and impacted thousands of students studying manufacturing engineering. This scholarship honors and gives tribute to Mr. Novak's selfless dedication to the SME Education Foundation.

    2013-2014 Leanna Dorworth Memorial Scholarship

    This endowed scholarship was established through the gifts of SME Chapter 69, the SME Education Foundation, SME members, the SME Composites Tech Group, co-workers, and friends in memory of Louis "Lou" Dorworth's daughter, Leanna, who died in September, 2010.  Lou is an active member of the advisor group to the Composites Manufacturing Tech Group and serves as the Tech Group Chair.  

    2013-2014 Marcus B. & Margo J. Crotts Manufacturing Engineering Scholarship

    The Marcus B. & Margo J. Crotts Endowment Fund, through the SME Education Foundation, will support one scholarship. Applicants must be seeking a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, or closely related field.

    2013-2014 Mazak Manufacturing Technology Scholarship

    Mazak Manufacturing Technology Scholarship For students attending Cincinnati State Technical & Community College ONLY Graduating high school senior or current student Pursuing two year degree in Manufacturing Technology
