The Foundation is committed to inspiring, preparing and supporting the next generation of manufacturing engineers and technologists through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. We provide students with scholarships, grants and support student-outreach programs through our partnerships with corporations, foundations, organizations and individual donors.
The need to expand interest in STEM-based education is critical to the American economy.
- The manufacturing-sector employs nearly 12 million people (the equivalent of 1 in 6 private sector jobs) and supports almost 5 million more jobs.
- Yet 5 percent of manufacturing jobs remain unfilled due to a lack of skilled candidates — skills that young people can learn through multiple avenues.
- These include a four-year degree program as well as post-high school certification programs including those offered by two-year community colleges and vocational schools.
The SME Education Foundation is committed to expanding relationships with manufacturers. Our goal remains steadfast — to act as their partners and help them succeed.
Donate today to help inspire the future generation of advanced manufacturing technologists.
