Press Release

Applications Open for SME Education Foundation Scholarships Until Feb. 1, 2019

The application process for the SME Education Foundation scholarships remains open until Feb. 1, 2019. Eligible students include high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students pursuing degrees in advanced manufacturing and related fields at two and four-year colleges.

SME Education Foundation scholarships support students pursuing degrees in advanced manufacturing and related fields at two- and four-year colleges and universities. The Foundation has awarded more than $7 million to nearly 3,000 deserving students in the United States and Canada since 2005.

“Core to our mission of attracting and supporting students and young people as they build their futures, our scholarships offer students a powerful reason to choose a manufacturing-focused education,” said Rob Luce, vice president of the SME Education Foundation. “The generosity of our many individual donors and corporate partners enable scholarships that support thousands of new students to manufacturing every year.”

The SME Education Foundation awards scholarships annually, so students can reapply every year. Scholarships range from $1,000‒$6,000 and can be used for tuition, books or lab/course fees related to attaining a technical or engineering education.

The SME Education Foundation also offers substantial scholarships to students with at least one parent or grandparent who has been an SME member in good standing for the last two years. The Family Scholarships include one award in an amount of $40,000 and three scholarships of $20,000 each, all payable over four years.

Students wishing to apply for a scholarship must to be registered first. Once registered, using a streamlined online application process, students can fill out just one application that will match them to every scholarship for which they are eligible.
