As the philanthropic arm of SME — an internationally recognized nonprofit organization that promotes manufacturing technology and develops a skilled workforce — the SME Education Foundation inspires, prepares and supports the next generation of manufacturing and engineering talent. As the Foundation continues to expand, it remains committed to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) by awarding scholarships in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to minority and/or female students through its Irving P. McPhail Scholarship Fund.
Our goal is to significantly expand postsecondary education opportunities to a broader, more diverse community of students over the next five years, while maintaining our support for traditional students. This year, the Foundation will award a McPhail Scholarship to 72 students.
