NASA HUNCH

Charting New Pathways through Motivation and Training

Student creativity and engagement are fueled by the SME PRIME® partnership with NASA and its acclaimed HUNCH (High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware) program. Introduced in 2017, the partnership provides SME PRIME students with the opportunity to build hardware for astronaut flight training. Students also work on real-world design solutions to improve the quality of life aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Participation in HUNCH projects inspires students to examine manufacturing and technical career pathways.

The partnership between NASA HUNCH and SME PRIME has a natural synergy: both organizations have student programs that provide students with relevant hands-on experience using current industry equipment and technologies. This promotes advanced manufacturing and STEM education, as well as engineering and technology careers.
