SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 10, 2023 — Students throughout Georgia will have access to new advanced manufacturing technology and training through the SME Education Foundation.
SME, the nonprofit committed to accelerating new manufacturing technology adoption and building North America’s talent and capabilities, and its SME Education Foundation launched their new Bright Minds Student Mentorship Program this month, designed to help select Foundation scholarship recipients find qualified, approved mentors to help guide their manufacturing education and careers.
The SME Education Foundation awarded a record number of scholarships to women and/or minorities: Scholarship awards to female students nearly doubled, and scholarships to minority students and minority female students nearly tripled and quadrupled.
The SME Education Foundation awarded 222 scholarships totaling nearly $550,000 to graduating high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students currently or planning to attend colleges, universities across the United States and Canada.
A newly established scholarship fund for students in underrepresented communities is a crucial component of the SME Education Foundation’s diversity, equity and inclusion strategy, designed to fully integrate diversity and equity opportunities in every program, effort and initiative undertaken by the foundation over the next five years.
