The SME Education Foundation today announced a new $2 million diversity, equity and inclusion scholarship to increase awards to underrepresented students.

The governing body of the Foundation, the board is comprised of leaders from industry, academia as well as community leaders.

SME Education Foundation’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategy is designed to fully integrate diversity and equity opportunities in every program, effort and initiative undertaken by the foundation over the next five years.

Eligible students include high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students pursuing degrees in advanced manufacturing/technology and related engineering fields at two and four-year colleges.

The SME Education Foundation is partnering with content provider Edge Factor to make available STEM and career education materials to new SME PRIME Schools across North America in 2021.

Made possible through funding from Ethicon, Principal LED, the City of San Angelo Development Corp. and the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, students at Central and Lake View high schools now have new opportunities to explore career preparation and growth at the West Texas Training Center.
