In 2019, we awarded $550,000 to 222 students across the country, with awards ranging from $1,000 to $40,000.
Endowing a named scholarship through the SME Education Foundation is an important, lasting way to aid students. Your scholarship establishes an important legacy of support for future manufacturing engineers and technicians. It's also a very meaningful way to honor family and friends.
The SME Education Foundation administers scholarships on behalf of major corporations in addition to awarding scholarships from our endowed funds.
The SME Education Foundation scholarships support students pursuing degrees in advanced manufacturing and related fields at two- and four-year schools, colleges and universities. We have awarded more than $7 million to nearly 3,000 deserving students in the United States and Canada since 2005.
Students from Kouts High School explored career opportunities within the skilled trades at FABTECH. The students left the conference and event with a deeper understanding of manufacturing and how it all comes together at the end.
Created by SME in 1979, the SME Education Foundation has provided more than $33 million since 1980 in grants, scholarships and awards in the U.S. and Canada and supported student outreach programs through its partnerships with corporations, foundations, organizations and individual donors.
Manufacturers, communities, educators, students and parents can all benefit from participating in Manufacturing Day: Last year, more than 80% of students said they became more convinced that manufacturing provides interesting and rewarding careers after attending these events.
