Need-Based Renewable Scholarships for Graduating High School Seniors

As college affordability becomes a mounting issue, the SME Education Foundation remains committed to helping students from all backgrounds break down financial barriers so they can pursue a career in manufacturing.

The Foundation is proud to announce its New Need-based Renewable Scholarships for graduating high school seniors.

Students have the opportunity to be considered for:

  • $20,000 award over four years (paid in $5,000 annual installments) for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree
  • $5,000 award over two years (paid in $2,500 installments) for students pursuing an associate degree

Eligibility includes

  • Must be a graduating high school senior
  • A U.S. citizen or a non-citizen eligible to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Must be Pell Grant eligible
  • Applying as a full-time student with a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • On a path toward an associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing engineering technology or a closely related engineering or technology discipline

Renewal Criteria 

  • Maintain a cumulative minimum GPA: 2.5/4.0 scale
  • Maintain full time enrollment (12 credit hours or more/semester)
  • Submit most recent college/university transcript
  • Maintain eligible major
  • Students pursuing an associate degree can renew a maximum of 1 time
  • Students pursing a bachelor’s degree can renew a maximum of 3 times
