SME Members – including their children and grandchildren – have exclusive access to apply for scholarships to support their pursuit of careers in manufacturing and engineering.
- Must be a permanent resident or citizen of the United States or Canada.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Must be on a path toward an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, technology, or closely related field at an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.
- Students must be a current member of an SME Professional or Student chapter or must have at least one parent or grandparent who has been an SME member in good standing for the last two years -- includes step-mothers and step-fathers.

Community Colleges allow students to acquire the necessary skills and technical knowledge to directly enter the workforce upon graduation. The SME Education Foundation awards scholarships for students attending these 2-year schools.

Already in college or studying at a university? We have scholarships specifically for you. Let us help you on your path toward a career in manufacturing. We award our scholarships annually after our application closes on February 1. Students can re-apply annually on November 1 for a chance to renew their scholarship.

While Graduate Students typically rely on fellowship, the SME Education Foundation is proud to award scholarships for manufacturing students looking for an advanced degree. Students enrolled in advanced manufacturing education need to dedicate time to their studies: Our scholarships help them take on the financial burden while allowing students to focus on their education.
