Students at Hancock Central High School in Hancock, Michigan, will have access to new manufacturing education opportunities for the 2022-23 school year through the SME Education Foundation, the philanthropic arm of SME, a 90-year-old non-profit association committed to advancing manufacturing technology and developing a skilled workforce.
The SME Education Foundation, the philanthropic arm of SME, announced Frank W. Ervin III was elected as its 2023 board of directors’ president at its recent SME Fall Gala, with all officers and directors taking office Jan. 1.
The SME Education Foundation has recognized 16 SME PRIME schools that excel at providing STEM/CTE manufacturing knowledge and skills to students by awarding the schools sustaining financial support to help underwrite materials and operating costs.
Unadilla Valley High School is making vast strides in implementing the SME PRIME (Partnership Response in Manufacturing Education) program since being temporarily thrown off course by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stratasys is funding the Foundation’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) scholarship initiative, and will provide a $20,000 award — $5,000 per year for four years.
