The Flagstar Bank Foundation has announced a significant contribution to the SME Education Foundation to implement an SME PRIME program at Pontiac High School. The Flagstar Foundation teamed up with the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation and the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan to support the initiative to bring manufacturing and engineering education and career opportunities to Pontiac High School students.
The SME Education Foundation has presented the Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA) with its 2017 Outstanding Partner Award, recognizing support of the Foundation’s mission to inspire, prepare and support the next generation manufacturing workforce.
The scholarships, administered by the SME Education Foundation for IQAir North America, make $130,000 available over five years to qualified and deserving students.
The SME Education Foundation has awarded 244 scholarships to young men and women pursuing a postsecondary education in manufacturing, engineering or related technologies.
With the Bright Minds Program at HOUSTEX, high school students had a chance to explore the latest technologies and connect with industry professionals. At the convention center, students saw a virtual reality training program where machines are used to simulate the floor of a worksite.
